What is Genre?

Today we learned about genre and here is my summary about what genre is

1. genre is a type to classify each movies, musics, video games
2. Genre convention is a the things inside the movie or things that you expect to see in that genre (objects, effects)



3. Romance, 
Convention: Swans, Attractive boys and girls, Whitehouse, lakes, vintage cars
4. Young adults 18 to 35 who are in a relationship or married
5. They expect love scenes and attractive boys and girls and rich families and poor families

Conform: the things that we expect that relates to the genre
Subvert: the things that didn't relate to the genre 

Reflection: How will it help to make the project?

Today we learnt about genres and this will help me in the project because it tells me how to group the conventions and by watching the trailers it can help me know the best angles to record in each scenarios

This advertisment is targeted to young males in the age of 18 until 35

2. How is this audience usually targeted?
By showing different beautiful locations and football stadiums and beaches

3. Did this advert conform or subvert the normal way? 
this advert conforms to young men in the age of 18 until 35

4. What images/locations were used to appeal the audience? 
Beaches, Football stadiums and lots of tourists attractions

5. What sounds/music were used to appeal the audience?
Happy proud achieving piano music

6. What characters were shown in the advert? 
The guy/travelers

7. What's the message in the advert? 
To be brave to travel around the world and explore with confidence

2. How is this audience usually targeted? By showing different attractions in Australia and many oceans beaches and seas
3. Did this advert conform or subvert the normal way? this advert conforms to the adults and it also conforms to the young teens since it is showing animals and cute creatures and mountains and snorkelling
4. What images/locations were used to appeal to the audience? Beaches, Seas, Waterfalls and lots of adventurous places
5. What sounds/music were used to appeal to the audience? The sounds of nature adventurous motivating music
6. What characters were shown in the ad? Families/Little animals
7. What's the message in the advert? To travel around Australia without any fear

3. Did this advert conform or subvert the normal way? this advert subverted by the way they were showing really unexpected big creatures and clones of the main characters in the advert 
4. What images /locations were used to appeal to the audience? The nature in new Zealand the cuisine the animals
5. What sounds/Music were used to appeal to the audience? fun joyful adventurous music
6. What characters were shown in the ad? Two adults and big animals and ladies enjoying food
7. What's the message in the advert? To stop dreaming about new Zealand and book your tickets and make your dreams become reality

2. How is this audience usually targeted? by showing them a wider and bigger vision of Qatar with different attractions
3. Did this advert conform or subvert the normal way? it conforms because it has families and couples that are willing to explore Qatar and enjoying
4. What images/locations were used to appeal to the audience? different parts of Qatar and fancy dinners and snorkelling int he sea while driving cars near the beaches and seas and going to local shops finding perfumes
5. What sounds/music were used to appeal to the audience? motivating happy music 
6. what characters were shown in the ad? Families and little birds

1.  Target audience and how are they targeted? This advert targets people who likes thrilling experiences and it also targets ghost hunters who are looking for fun while still involving horror experiences, this advert also targets teens in th age of 17 to 26, and they use ghost screams and intimidating creepy music

2. What images are used to appeal to the target audience? They used a image of a fun theme parks with dark atmosphere that signifies the thrills and fun that they are going to experience, and the also showed a train which can play with your mind and make you see things 

3.  Did this advert conform or subvert? this advert conformed because it shows a very scary looking figure and it also has a scary background songs and noises and we are able to see mind twisting things which relates to the title of the advert.

4. What sounds/music were used in the advert? This advert uses a lot of sound effects with creepy screaming and violin screeching noises to make the audience feel thrilled and creeped out and so that they can feel the atmosphere, and they also had glitching noises

5. What message was presented in the advert? to go to this park and experience thrilling rides and lots of scary fun 



Establishing Shot 0.00, In this scene with the establishing shot it shows a lot of the Taiwan seas which is a lushious crystal clear blue water with a lot of green landscape which introduces the whole advertisement on what Taiwan is all about specifically in water activities.

Medium Shot 0.07, this shot shows two young adults carrying a surf board which shows their expressions on how they're happy and having a great time surfing and this shows the water activities that there is to do in Taiwan and it explains that Taiwan has perfect waves for surfing.

Close up shot 0.10, this shows a young kid showing that she/he is happy and having a beautiful time in Taiwan doing water activities, this shot is mostly used to show the persons facial expression, this shot makes the audience able to identify how the persons feeling and since she's happy this effect will persuade the audience to come to Taiwan and do some water activities so you can have a great time like the person in the video.


1.  Target Audience and how are they targeted? This trailer targets people who likes mysterious crime scenes and murders investigation and teens to adults who like mind twisting things and they target these people by adding police or crime scenes and figuring out who the real murderer is 

2. What images are used to appeal to the target audience? They used many crime investigations and lots of bulletin board which relates to crime investigations which includes complex ideas and theories about the killer

3. Did this advert conform or subvert? it conforms because it actually shows a mix of crime and rituals which relates to atheists and satanists which can target our ghost hunters audience

4. What sounds/music were used in the advert? This advert uses suspense thrilling sound effects and music with knocking sounds that will make the audience creeped out and tense 

5. What message was presented in the advert? The message is to persuade investigators and detectives or even ghost hunters to come watch this movie

REFLECTION:

Research helps me to get a good idea about how adverts look like and I didn't know that adverts had to be really fast but really informative and in this term mainly we learned about camera angles which I didn't know has meanings such as low angle shot and high angle shot but now I know and I could use it in my advert

REFLECTION: 

My team was very cooperative but we had problems on our scenes which we kept retaking and its difficult to set up a filming schedule since some of our team members has their own plans

week 2

Semiotics and genre

We learned about genre, this topic will help me categorise films that fit in their genre and how to make movies that relate to each genres 

We learned about semiotics, this topic will help me in our project because it shows us how to communicate using expressions, gestures, lights, sounds, and colours 

Week 3

In this week we learned about camera angles and we did statement of intent this will help my project by making different angles to express the peoples emotion

week 4

This week we we learned about storyboards on how to make scenes and we learned about camera movements for example pan fixed dolly tilt are gonna be useful to my project and we learned about diegetic sound, non-diegetic sound ad lastly trans diegetic sound.

Week 5

This week we learned about miseenscene and this will help us in the project to create a atmosphere in our scenes and prepare our sets and colour and lighting, and we also created our storyboards for our project ad and I missed a lesson about editing due to a national test

Week 6

In this week we began doing our CCR questions for our project ad and we learned about the Steve Neale theory and the David Buckingham theory

Week 7

In this week we learned about genre theory and we learned about the Barthes theory and Levi Stroutz and this will help us during the project and we will apply these two theory into our project

REFLECTION: 

This diary is very important me and it can help me to remember what we learned throughout the week so I don't easily forget everything that we learned that is useful for our project ad
