Preliminary Research

This is my research to different genres

Film	Genre/Genre Conventions	How did this scene introduce characters, settings and create intrigue?	What did you like/dislike about the intro?
EXTRACTION	Action Fight, explosion	The scene introduced the character getting shot to death and leaking blood they also introduced a girl in the film who shouted the main character's name then the guy fell into a lake which then he gets picked up with an ambulance	I liked how it jumps to the conflict straight away and it makes us confused what happened after and before and it attracts the audience. I dislike how when the character was dying it cuts to the credits every 4 seconds
Pamali Pocong Village	Horror, Scary, Dark, Dim,	The scene shows many corpses which clearly shows us that this is a horror movie and it shows a guy digging a grave and it shows blood, which will bring fear to the audience	I like how it shows us what happens when you whistle at night because it is a superstition to not whistle at night and I love how the music is slow and build suspense which makes us curious about what is going to happen next, but I don't like how the person was introduced where it only shows a random guy digging a grave without knowing what happened before it
Uglies	Sci Fi, Futuristic,tech, robots	It introduces on the conflict on human nature and how everyone is overusing fossil fuels and how conflict is created because everyone wishes to be pretty and the very best scientists where trying to fix what civilization has left	I liked how it relates to real life situations and how most of us would want to be perfect and beautiful but I dislike the title of the movie it is underwhelming
500 Days of Summer	Romance, love, couples	They introduced them from their childhood life until the adult life	I like how the characters are introduced and they are introduced how they felt on the current state and how they felt meeting each other but I don't like how vaguely they explain each of the characters and some of them doesn't make sense to me
Johnny English	Comedy, goofy people, laughs, jokes	The scene uses the guys dream which will be revealed and it shows him in a royal mansion defeating the guards or securities but turns out he was dreaming and is just a guy working in an office taht works for an intelligence agency and this shows that he is not the best person there but later in this scene he will be an agent	I liked all the jokes that he made and how hes very natural but I disliked how the first scene was a dream because I found it very cool and interesting

after seeing all these genres my team decided to go for crime/drama

Refledction: the preliminary research helped to give a bigger understanding on how to make a good intro and suitbale intro for our film opening scene and how to correctly introduce the characters by their role. For example if the character is evil we would like to keep them unknown or mysterious to keep the audience attached.
